Bolt – Tuxedo Kitten Available for Adoption

tuxedo kittens for adoption from Temecula cat rescue
Bolt is a tuxedo male short hair kitten for pet adoption

A woman found two black and white pregnant female cats in her carport. She took them into her apartment. This kitten is from one of the mothers. The kittens were picked up by our rescue on 4/22/18.
The kittens for this litter include Bat Girl (black female), Bolt (B&W male), Bolt (B&W male), Mittens (B&W female)

This kitten’s foster home said this about him:
“Bolt is a lightning bolt of energy, all he ever wants to do is run and play. You will always be entertained with this little munchkin running around. And the little lightning bolt on his back just adds character to his fun personality. ”

“Bat Girl is the ninja of the litter. With her dark as night fur, she hides in the corners waiting for the perfect moment to pounce on her brothers or maybe even you. This little girl is super playful and is quite the ball of energy. But when she wants to be, she is a total sweetie and cuddler. ”

Mia’s Happy 6th Birthday Gift Donations to our Cat Rescue!

Happy Birthday & Thank You to Mia!
This is Mia Cotten, now 6 years old with her parents Crystal and Dan Cotten. Mia wanted her friends for her birthday to donate cat supplies instead of gifts for her at her birthday party. They donated an overflowing shopping cart full of stuff to our cats and kittens. Their were litter boxes, food, litter, toys, 3 cat carriers, etc. Lots and lots of stuff.
They brought it to our PetSmart adoption event in Temecula.

Why does my cat not use its litter box?

Someone contacted us on surrendering a cat because it was going outside the litter box .   Often cats will go next their litter box for a variety of reasons.  They do this to try and get their owner’s attention since they can’t shout  “Hey, I there is problem here!”

Have you considered all options on why your cat is not using the litter box?

  • Have you taken her to the vet to be evaluated?  It may be that she has a UTI or some other problem.  Your cat is trying to tell you it does not feel well.
  • Have you using a kitty litter with a strong scent?  The scents are for humans but can be really offensive to cats.  Cats live by their nose rubbing their cheeks and bodies on you as a friendly way to establish scent.   The scent may discouraging the cat from going inside the litter box.  As humans, no one wants to be in elevator with the person with bad body odor or reeks of perfume/ cologne.   Kitty litter scents can be just as shocking and the cat is trying to give you a thumbs down vote.
  • Have changed the kitty litter brand?  By changing from one brand to another can be offensive if the smell is different (see above) or the texture is different for their paws.  If you want to change litter brands, do it gradually by mixing a small amount into what is familiar.  Keep gradually increasing the mix so the transition is easy and feel comfortable.
  • Do you not scoop the litter box on a regular basis?  Cats will stop using a litter box if it is too full.  If you are not consistent, consider buying an automatic litter box that will scoop itself.
  • Did you add another cat to the household?  Some cats are fine to share the litter box versus others will not.  Cats are scent sensitivity when it comes to territory.  Consider adding an extra box.
  • Is the litter box in a quiet area?  If cats become startled by loud noises while in the box, the cat could be afraid to crawl into it.   Is there is a dog, child, or another cat that pokes or attacks the cat when it tries to use its litter box? Cats are predators but also prey animals so they need to feel safe when using a litter box.  (Humans too are known to have performance issues when using public restrooms!)  Consider moving the litter box to a new location where your kitty can do its business undisturbed.  This noise issue also applies to food dishes.

Contact us at info@babybobbysmeowhouserescue.org if you have other questions.  When in doubt, please take your cat to a vet for evaluation!

Rescued Neighborhood Feral Kittens – Ashton, Ethan, Alyssa, Danny, Brandon

Foster Victoria gave this update about the kittens she trapped and is fostering:
“These are the ferals I trapped on my street.  Everyone is getting more and more social every day. They all purr! Brandon and Ethan are the most social. Ashton was the most shy but he is now the third social. Ashton is timid but he wants to loved on. If I am petting someone else he comes over to be pet in a timid way. He will come over and lay next to the cat I am petting and look at me like pet me too. They have taken a lot of work but they are almost ready for new homes. No hissing no hiding. Just kitties that want to play! They are still a little sensitive to noise but we are working on that. We can hold them and snuggle them we just need to get them use to being man handle by kids!

They are about 10 – 12 weeks old and they are almost 3 lbs. They should be available in the next couple weeks. Brandon, Ashton, and Ethan are the biggest. Alyssa and Danny are smaller. ”

Momma cat Bella and her new baby kittens

Foster Sadie shared this update and photos:
“Bella was posted as a pregnant stray and the moment I saw her I knew I had to take her home so she could give birth safely. She immediately adapted to my home and had her babies the same day. She a bit of trouble during delivery I had to help her free 2 babies from their sack but in the end she successfully delivered 5 babies.Bella instantly became part of my family so she is staying here with us along with one of her kittens so she has a buddy. But there is 4 other beautiful babies that will need a forever home they won’t be ready for quite a few weeks (they are only 3 weeks old) but they would love to be apart of your family and become your best friends so meet Bellas wonderful kittens; Hercules, Hades, Felix, and Gypsy. 3 males and 1 female”

Happy Tails for Kitty Rufus!

From our Facebook Page:

Thank you for all that you do for these precious kitties. Rufus (previously Cheddar) is growing healthily and is a loving and cheeky cat who loves to play fetch with his catnip mice and my husband’s smelly socks. He is a joy in our lives, made possible because of your efforts.
– Krystle K.

If you have a “happy tails” story to share, you can either post on the Facebook page or email a photo and story at info@babybobbysmeowhouserescue.org.

Rescued Hemet Auto Yard Maine Coon Mix Female Kittens

Female DSH Rescued Maine Coon Mix Kitten
Sam Rescued Maine Coon Mix Kitten
Female MSH Rescued Maine Coon Mix Kitten
Angel Rescued Maine Coon Mix Kitten

60 KITTENS! Shell was off to the rescue again when she saw an online post from an auto yard giving away kittens. Even though we are overfull, she worried that another interested party may want to pick them up for snake food.

Meet Angel, Lola, and Sam! The are all girls and we believe them to be Maine Coon mixes based on the auto yard staff. They noted that the mother cat appears to hang around with a male cat that is a Maine Coon.  The mother had the kittens in the back of a car where she was caring for them. The mother appears to have taken off and has not been seen in the past few days which is why the auto yard staff was trying to give away the kittens.

The kittens appear to have an upper respiratory infection and are being treated for it. As a standard of care for all rescued animals, we are also giving them prophylactic medications such as Pancur for parasites.
Angel appears to be a medium hair. Lola and Sam appear to be short hair. We think the kittens are about 5-6 weeks old. The kittens will need to be about 3 pounds or 8-12 weeks old before they can be adopted.  If you are interested in adopting, please email us at info@babybobbysmeowhouserescue.org.

We were able to rescue these kittens thanks to a new foster volunteer, Sadie. We do turn away many people who ask for help given our limited resources.

Pardon our Cats! Kitten Season is Here!

Rescued B&W Mom and her Kittens
Rescued B&W Kittens

We rescue cats and kittens from the greater Riverside County area which has a high euthanasia rate for cats. (https://www.rcdas.org/index.php/about-us/statistics)

In April 2018, 1273 cats were impounded and 660 or 52% of cats were euthanized. For the period 7/1/17 to 2/28/18, 11,620 cats were impounded and 6,543 or 56% of cats were euthanized. We occasionally rescue from San Bernardino County too which has even higher death

rates.

We are asking donations to help out since kitten season has started and the first wave of fur babies is showing up now. In addition to being contacted about found kittens, we help with rescuing adults too. We only charge $85 for kittens and $50 or less for cats as an adoption fee. This does not cover our costs and we rely on donations to make up the difference in costs.
