Someone contacted us on surrendering a cat because it was going outside the litter box . Often cats will go next their litter box for a variety of reasons. They do this to try and get their owner’s attention since they can’t shout “Hey, I there is problem here!”
Have you considered all options on why your cat is not using the litter box?
Have you taken her to the vet to be evaluated? It may be that she has a UTI or some other problem. Your cat is trying to tell you it does not feel well.
Have you using a kitty litter with a strong scent? The scents are for humans but can be really offensive to cats. Cats live by their nose rubbing their cheeks and bodies on you as a friendly way to establish scent. The scent may discouraging the cat from going inside the litter box. As humans, no one wants to be in elevator with the person with bad body odor or reeks of perfume/ cologne. Kitty litter scents can be just as shocking and the cat is trying to give you a thumbs down vote.
Have changed the kitty litter brand? By changing from one brand to another can be offensive if the smell is different (see above) or the texture is different for their paws. If you want to change litter brands, do it gradually by mixing a small amount into what is familiar. Keep gradually increasing the mix so the transition is easy and feel comfortable.
Do you not scoop the litter box on a regular basis? Cats will stop using a litter box if it is too full. If you are not consistent, consider buying an automatic litter box that will scoop itself.
Did you add another cat to the household? Some cats are fine to share the litter box versus others will not. Cats are scent sensitivity when it comes to territory. Consider adding an extra box.
Is the litter box in a quiet area? If cats become startled by loud noises while in the box, the cat could be afraid to crawl into it. Is there is a dog, child, or another cat that pokes or attacks the cat when it tries to use its litter box? Cats are predators but also prey animals so they need to feel safe when using a litter box. (Humans too are known to have performance issues when using public restrooms!) Consider moving the litter box to a new location where your kitty can do its business undisturbed. This noise issue also applies to food dishes.
Contact us at info@babybobbysmeowhouserescue.org if you have other questions. When in doubt, please take your cat to a vet for evaluation!
Foster Victoria gave this update about the kittens she trapped and is fostering:
“These are the ferals I trapped on my street. Everyone is getting more and more social every day. They all purr! Brandon and Ethan are the most social. Ashton was the most shy but he is now the third social. Ashton is timid but he wants to loved on. If I am petting someone else he comes over to be pet in a timid way. He will come over and lay next to the cat I am petting and look at me like pet me too. They have taken a lot of work but they are almost ready for new homes. No hissing no hiding. Just kitties that want to play! They are still a little sensitive to noise but we are working on that. We can hold them and snuggle them we just need to get them use to being man handle by kids!
They are about 10 – 12 weeks old and they are almost 3 lbs. They should be available in the next couple weeks. Brandon, Ashton, and Ethan are the biggest. Alyssa and Danny are smaller. ”

Thank you for all that you do for these precious kitties. Rufus (previously Cheddar) is growing healthily and is a loving and cheeky cat who loves to play fetch with his catnip mice and my husband’s smelly socks. He is a joy in our lives, made possible because of your efforts.

60 KITTENS! Shell was off to the rescue again when she saw an online post from an auto yard giving away kittens. Even though we are overfull, she worried that another interested party may want to pick them up for snake food.
Meet Angel, Lola, and Sam! The are all girls and we believe them to be Maine Coon mixes based on the auto yard staff. They noted that the mother cat appears to hang around with a male cat that is a Maine Coon. The mother had the kittens in the back of a car where she was caring for them. The mother appears to have taken off and has not been seen in the past few days which is why the auto yard staff was trying to give away the kittens.
The kittens appear to have an upper respiratory infection and are being treated for it. As a standard of care for all rescued animals, we are also giving them prophylactic medications such as Pancur for parasites.
Angel appears to be a medium hair. Lola and Sam appear to be short hair. We think the kittens are about 5-6 weeks old. The kittens will need to be about 3 pounds or 8-12 weeks old before they can be adopted. If you are interested in adopting, please email us at info@babybobbysmeowhouserescue.org.
We were able to rescue these kittens thanks to a new foster volunteer, Sadie. We do turn away many people who ask for help given our limited resources.
– Photographer: We need a volunteer to help photograph all our kitties for posting out online. Please email info@babybobbysmeowhouserescue.org if interested.
– Web: We need a volunteer to help us with social media and WordPress blog postings. Please email info@babybobbysmeowhouserescue.org if interested.

Barn Cats are feral or semi-feral cats who live outdoors. They are provided with shelter such a barn or similar structure that is safe place from cold, heat, and predators like coyotes. Barn cats are useful for helping to keep down the rodent populations in places where there are food sources for rodents such as grain. It makes the environment safer for you since you do not need traps and poisons to trap rodents.
We ensure to spay and neuter any cats so as to stop the cycle of pet overpopulation. We will also test the cats for diseases like feline leukemia and provide them with initial vaccinations.
The cats will not be able to sustain themselves on rodents alone. The adopter will need to provide supplemental food and water. The adopter may need to take the cat in for veterinary care.
When adopting a barn cat, placements work best by having multiple cats together. You can read more about it here for the safe relocation of feral cats.
If you are in the greater Temecula area (Murrieta, Hemet, Wildomar, Lake Elsinore) and are interested in adopting a barn cat, please email us at info@babybobbysmeowhouserescue.org.
Meet the Tobe-ster (Tobey). This little kitten has been with Baby Bobby’s Meow House Rescue for a while now. Mostly due to the fact that he doesn’t show well at the adoption events because he is so scared.
Tabby Kitten Toby for Adoption
Recently, he was transferred to my house from his other Foster and he is just the sweetest little thing. It took him a couple of days to warm up but now he is constantly asking for attention and playful. He is playing with my cats, he is snuggling on the bed, and it is really cool to see his personality flourish because before this I only got to see him at adoption events and had no idea how sweet and playful he actually is when not at an event.
Tabby Kitten Toby for Adoption
If your family is looking for a laid-back, super cute, super sweet, super soft kitty cat that loves to snuggle and occasionally play then please consider adding Toby to your home. He is 6 months old, gets along very well with other cats, gets along with kids and adults, gets along with small dogs but is unsure about big dogs. He is a little shy at first but as soon as he warms up to you (which only takes a couple days) he turns into just the best companion in the world. So please don’t let his shyness at events fool you- give this kitten the chance that he deserves for his forever home.
